My stay at Merchantel had its ups and downs. The hotel is fairly new and offers a nice breakfast buffet, but the location is a bit of a hassle due to cab drivers' unfamiliarity. The rooms were decent but could use better upkeep, and while the staff was friendly, the overall experience didn't leave a lasting impression. 😅

Rooms
6.0
The rooms were clean but felt quite impersonal, with some being nondescript and in need of better upkeep.
Service
7.0
The front desk staff were helpful, providing written directions for cab drivers, which was essential due to the hotel's obscure location.
Location
5.0
Though it's a bit isolated, with not much around, the subway station is a 10-15 minute walk, making it somewhat accessible.
Dining
8.0
The breakfast buffet was quite good with a fresh omelette station and various options, plus the dinner buffet had quality selections including Peking duck.
Facilities
6.0
Facilities are basic; the in-room complementary internet was a plus, but nothing stood out in terms of amenities.

My stay at the hotel was a mixed bag. The breakfast was excellent, and the staff was friendly, but I faced some cleanliness issues and had a room that was too hot for comfort. Overall, it was functional but not what I expected for a four-star hotel.

Rooms
5.0
The room smelled of smoke and the cleanliness didn't pass my mom's test. The shower design was a bit quirky, with water pooling and flowing out on the floor.
Service
6.0
The staff were kind and tried their best, but English fluency was limited. They helped with a thermostat issue, but it took some creative solutions to cool the room down.
Location
5.0
The hotel was quite far from major attractions like the Forbidden City, which took a 45-minute cab ride to reach. That said, cabs were cheap, around $7.
Dining
8.0
Breakfast was excellent, with lots of options. The buffet overall was pretty good.
Facilities

The exercise room had great equipment, but it wasn't very large. Internet access was free but super slow.

During my stay at Merchantel in Beijing, I found the hotel to be a pleasant option with clean rooms and excellent customer service. The hard beds took some getting used to, but the friendly staff and modern aesthetics balanced it out. However, the location isn't ideal for sightseeing, and the food selection didn't quite suit my taste.

Rooms
7.0
My room was clean and equipped with a hairdryer, coffee/tea maker, and iron, though the beds were quite hard, typical of what I've experienced in China.
Service
9.0
The staff were extremely friendly and attentive, making sure my needs were met promptly, especially when I called for assistance.
Location
6.0
While the hotel was not close to major attractions, taxis and the subway offered accessible options to explore the city.
Dining
5.0
The breakfast buffet included a mix of Chinese and some western options, but I found the Cantonese food in the on-site restaurant not to my preference.
Facilities
7.0
Though there was no pool, I enjoyed the well-priced spa services available, adding to the overall experience.

Overall, my stay at Merchantel was decent but not without its drawbacks. The rooms were clean and spacious, but I encountered issues like slow service and a lack of some basic amenities. The breakfast buffet was a mixed bag, but I found a few favorites after a couple of days. It's a suitable option if you have business in the area, but I wouldn't recommend it for leisure travelers.

Rooms
6.0
My room was spacious and clean, but had stained carpets and a lingering cigarette smell despite being labeled non-smoking (not exactly ideal).
Service
5.0
The staff were friendly and attentive, but check-in and check-out processes were incredibly slow, which was frustrating (seemed like staff were still in training).
Location
7.0
The hotel isn't near the main attractions, but it's just a 5-minute walk to the subway, offering easy access to explore the city.
Dining
7.0
The breakfast buffet had a good mix of options (I especially liked the Chinese dishes!), and I enjoyed the Cantonese restaurant on-site, which was good value but required a reservation.
Facilities
6.0
There was no pool, but the spa was well-priced (I didn't use it, but heard good things). The Merchantel Club should definitely be avoided due to heavy cigarette smoke.

My stay at Merchantel in Beijing was mostly fine, though the location was a bit of a hassle since it was far from the main attractions. The service was excellent, but I did have some trouble with the room temperature. Overall, I'd say it’s a decent hotel if you're okay with being a bit out of the way.

Rooms
6.0
The room was comfortable, but the AC didn't work, making it way too hot at times. After asking for help, they propped the hallway door open to cool it down, which was a bit awkward.
Service
9.0
The staff was super helpful and responsive. I called for assistance and they were there right away, which I really appreciated.
Location
5.0
The location wasn't the best since it took a long cab ride to get to places like the Hard Rock Cafe, about 45 minutes. It’s manageable but not ideal if you want to explore quickly.
Dining
7.0
The breakfast buffets were pretty tasty, but the food options felt very Cantonese and not really my vibe. Still, I found the dining experience decent overall.
Facilities
8.0
The hotel was clean and modern with good internet access. The public areas felt welcoming, similar to a Hilton in the United States.
